Camp Director 2019


“Camp Monahan, of the Archdiocese of Regina, provides a Christian camping experience for youth ages 6 to 15 with opportunities for social, physical, intellectual, creative, and spiritual growth.”

Camp Monahan is seeking a Camp Director, 20 years of age as of May 31st, 2019 or older. All staff will be responsible to care for, guide, and mentor children ages 6 to 15 through our summer camps. Camps are from July 7th – Aug. 9th. Mandatory training week is July 2nd – July 5th. Staff are also expected to help at camp shutdown days, Aug. 9th & 10th. All staff will participate in reflection and ongoing evaluation with the Executive Director. All staff are expected to be off Camp grounds Friday evenings and are expected back Sunday mornings. The Camp Director position starts late April-beginning of May.

Leadership and Care:

→ Be able to model Christian faith-based values to best ensure holistic care of campers and staff

→ It is essential for the applicants to have strong leadership, communication, and administrative skills to ensure that the camping season runs smoothly day-to-day for the duration of the summer

→ On registration days at the beginning of each week you will meet with parents and discuss any concerns they may have for their children

→ Participate fully in all camp activities, and carry out assigned responsibilities with care and diligence

→ Maintain a safe and respectful environment for all campers and staff at all times

→ Maintain open lines of communication in regards to day-to-day camp activities with Administrative Directors

→ Attend and participate fully in staff training, daily meetings, and weekly reflections

Prior to the camping season:

→ The Camp Director will work closely with the Administrative Directors and the Board member responsible for programming to organize and run a 5 week camping season for children and youth aged 6 to 15

→ Will assist the personnel committee with the interview process and hiring of the summer staff, organizing and running promotional activities and events, and also planning and overseeing a staff icebreaker and orientation


→ Active faith in Jesus Christ, and an openness to sharing and participating in this faith with campers, parents, volunteers, and public

→ The Camp Director is in charge of keeping all administrative materials including but not limited to: registrations form of campers, medications, emergency contacts, allergies, first aid reports, incident reports, weekly staff reflections/evaluation, volunteer forms, etc.

→ Must be enthusiastic, able to motivate and connect with staff, give directions and follow-up with staff and volunteers, maintain a professional atmosphere at camp, maintain order and make sure that policies and expectations are being met by all staff, volunteers, and campers

→ Be able to provide a clean vulnerable sector criminal record check at time of interview

→ Live onsite during prior to training week, summer camps, and clean-up days

→ Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills and is able to apply these to maintain the spiritual, physical, emotional, and mental well being of all campers and staff

→ A current First Aid & CPR course are both required

→ Experience teaching or coaching children, or a life guarding certification is considered an asset


→ Proactive and organized in order to foster an efficient day-to-day camp flow

→ Critical thinking in order to problem solve issues that arise day-to-day

→ Be able to work independently, and with a team

→ Follow directions in a timely and professional manner
