First Aid Attendant 2019

Mission:

“Camp Monahan, of the Archdiocese of Regina, provides a Christian camping experience for youth ages 6 to 15 with opportunities for social, physical, intellectual, creative, and spiritual growth.”

Camp Monahan is seeking a First Aid Attendant, 16 years of age as of May 31st, 2019 or older. All staff will be responsible to care for, guide, and mentor children ages 6 to 15 through our summer camps. Camps are July 7th – Aug. 9th Mandatory training week is July 2nd – July 5th. Staff are also expected to help at camp shutdown days, Aug. 9th & 10th. All staff will participate in reflection and ongoing evaluation with the Camp Director and board members. All staff are expected to be off Camp grounds Friday evenings and are expected back Sunday mornings.

Leadership and Care:

→ Be able to model Christian faith-based values to best ensure holistic care of campers and staff

→ Prior to the camping season, you are responsible for buying first aid supplies with in the designated budget and ensuring the First Aid station is adequately prepared

→ At the start of the week, during registration, the First Aid Attendant will meet with parents and discuss all medications to be administered throughout the week, as well any medical concerns they may have

→ Participate fully in all camp activities, and carry out assigned responsibilities with care and diligence

→ Maintain a safe and respectful environment for all campers and staff at all times

→ Maintain open lines of communication in regards to day-to-day camp activities with the Camp Director

→ Attend and participates fully in staff training, daily meetings, and weekly reflections

Requirements:

→ Active faith in Jesus Christ, and an openness to sharing and participating in this faith with campers, parents, volunteers, and public

→ The First Aid Attendant is in charge of administering medications and any emergency first aid throughout the camping season to both campers and staff

→ You are also the principle person responsible for relaying allergies to kitchen staff

→ Be able to provide a clean vulnerable sector criminal record check

→ Live onsite during training week, summer camps, and clean-up days

→ Excellent interpersonal, organization, and leadership skills and is able to apply these to maintain the spiritual, physical, emotional, and mental well being of all campers and staff

→ A current First Aid & CPR course are both required

→ Experience teaching or coaching children, or a life guarding certification is considered an asset

→ Proactive and organized in order to foster an efficient day-to-day camp flow

→ Critical thinking in order to problem solve issues that arise day-to-day

→ Be able to work independently, and with a team

→ Follow directions in a timely and professional manner
